Ningbo Prefecture initially governed five counties: Yin, Cixi, Fenghua, Dinghai, and Xiangshan; in the 27th year of Qing Kangxi’s reign, 1688, the Dinghai County was renamed as Zhenhai County, and the new Dinghai County was established and later upgraded to sub-prefecture in the 21st year of Qing Daoguang’s reign, 1841. The map may have been drawn around the same time before the 21st year of Qing Daoguang’s reign, 1841.
