Title is missing from the map; the title applied here is based on content. Scale and legend are not given; orientation is marked along the borders on all four sides with north at the bottom. The map depicts some features of Zhelin with images and annotations, including the brigade town, government offices, flood controls, dikes, forts, and officers and soldiers. As an administrative establishment, Zhelin was under the jurisdiction of Huating County, Songjiang Prefecture. Zhelin was known as Zhelin Fort in the military system during the Ming Dynasty; the fort was located in the area under the jurisdiction of Fengxian County, but it was under the Jiangnan Corps Admiral.

Zhelin Brigade governed the area from Henglindun of Qingcun Brigade to the east, to Hujian Port of Jingshan Brigade to the west and from Nanqiao Township to the north, to Haitu to the south. The map may have been drawn during the Qing Daoguang period, 1821-1843.
