No title appears on this map; the title applied here is based on content. There is no expressed scale, legend, or orientation. North is at the top, judging from the layout of the Tai Lake and Wujiang County in relation to Suzhou. The town walls of Suzhou Prefecture are pictorially depicted; towns and villages outside the prefectural town are identified and indicated with circles, rivers in double lines, mountains in Cunfa depiction, the Tai Lake in the images of waves. The two gates of Chang and Xu in the west of Suzhou prefectural town, the shape of mountains outside the city, and the Tai lake are described clearly. In addition, several place names from the Xu Gate to the Tai Lake are identified and distances are also given. For example, Baiyangwan, Hengjin, Pu Zhuang, Da Cun (Du Cun) are the places passing through Hengtangshi Lake, Xishang, and Qianzhuang.

There is not enough information to know when the map was made. Since this map is one of Charles George Gordon’s No. 32 collection, it is estimated to have been drawn during Tongzhi (1862-1864) and Gordon’s “Ever Victorious Army” period.
