The title is affixed to the verso of the map. Scale and orientation are not given on the map, but north is at the top. Legend explains the circles and colors used for this map: Manchuria’s army is represented by circles; Mongolian armies by squares; Han Chinese army by tip circles; different armies are represented by different colored banners. The map used traditional Chinese pictorial painting to depict various government offices, palaces, alleys, temples, arches and town walls gates. However, the Forbidden City palace is roughly sketched and buildings are not identified except for a few important structures. The map is focused on the distribution of the early Qing Dynasty’s Eight Banners military forces.

Bell and drum towers are shown on the map. The Bell tower was destroyed in the 18th year of Ming Yongle’s reign, 1420, and rebuilt to the north of the drum tower outside Di’anmen in the 12th year of Qing Qianlong’s reign, 1747. The bell tower is not colored, unlike other buildings. The map is likely to be drawn after the bell tower’s rebuilt. On the other hand, the Mahakala Temple to the east of the Forbidden City changed the name to Pudo Temple in the 41st year of Qianlong’s reign, 1776, but it was marked with the original name. Therefore, the map may have been drawn before 1776.
