This map's bird's eye view depicts the Qing army's siege of Jinling (now Nanjing) during the Taiping Rebellion. North is at the top. No title appears on the map; the title applied here is based on content. The view describes the Qing army when it recaptured the capital city, Tianjing (Nanjing), and defeated the Taiping Rebellion army, depicted on the map with red headbands. The view shows geographical features, battles, army distinctive unit insignias, and military encampments inside and outside the city; it also shows streets, buildings, and city gates. The map was made before the Qing army's victory in 1864.
The map can be studied with the following map in the National Palace Museum's collection: title: Ping ding Yue fei tu (map no. 021283-021294).
