The map depicts mountains and lakes in Henan Province. The map uses the Chinese cartographic grid; a side of each grid represents 100 li (approximately 33 miles). Orientation is marked along the borders on all four sides. Text on the upper right records number of prefectures, municipalities, sub-prefectures, and counties. The note also gives distances from cities and towns to the provincial capital, Kaifeng Fu, and its distance and location in relation to Shuntian Fu (Beijing). Different symbols are used to indicate the location of prefectures, states, sub-prefectures, and counties. Major cities, towns, and Great Wall checkpoints are
prominently marked. The note also records adjoining states and counties along the border. The Yellow River flooded its banks and changed its course at Tongwaxiang in the north stream and joined Daqing River into the sea; it is marked as the New Yellow River. The old watercourse is called Silty Yellow River.
