Notes on the right include map title, official county seal, and distance mileage to the neighboring counties. The bottom part of the note was torn and missing. North is at the top. This is an official map, although boundaries are not drawn. The map depicts Maoming and Guo Counties in Gaozhou Prefecture, Guangdong Province. Notes on the left describe local taxes collected and paid to the higher authority.
The map combines the traditional Chinese pictorial style with three-dimensional images to depict villages and cities. The county seat is located in the center and is indicated by city walls; the area is exaggerated to emphasize its importance as an administrative power. Rivers are depicted in green, checkpoints by flags, and government offices by pictorial houses. These are characteristics of an official map.
The map can be studied with the following map in the National Palace Museum's collection: title: Guangdong Sheng shu ge zhou fu xian di yu tu shuo (map no. 021157).
