The title is missing; the title applied here is based on content. Scale and legend are not given; orientation is marked along the borders on all four sides with north at the bottom. Boundaries of neighboring counties are explained in the text, including Dinghai, Yin, and Zhenhai Counties. Military posts and watchtowers are depicted pictorially. Military units and military officers are noted in the explanatory text. The map emphasizes military defense stations instead of administrative divisions. This is an official military map.
Fenghua County was under the jurisdiction of Ningbo Prefecture. It was located 80 li southwest of the prefectural seat. It had gone through many administrative and military changes, such as reduction in forces in the eighth year of Qing Kangxi’s reign, 1679, and the first year of Daoguang’s reign, 1821. The map may have been drawn during Daoguang period, 1821-1841.
